As part of this effort, the “Fourth Working Group Call Meeting” was held online for members on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

The meeting, accessible from Jakarta, was led directly by Pertamina CEO and Task Force Chair Nicke Widyawati.

About 140 participants attended, including ESC Working Group Vice-Chair Agung Wicaksono; Task Force Policy Officer, Oki Muraza; eight working group co-chairs; and B20 members from 19 industries and 25 countries.

Among the topics the 4th meeting focused on was adding aspects of the SDGs and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to policy recommendations.

“Based on the results of the discussions between the working group and the implementation board, it was agreed that all B20 working groups should link SDG targets that are relevant to the draft policy recommendations and develop KPIs as monitoring indicators in policy design,” Widyawati said.

She reiterated that the main objective of the forum is to ensure inclusiveness in the formulation of recommendations and policies, in which all members of the working group have the opportunity to express their views.

“I hope we can work together to come up with effective and implementable policy proposals that can represent the interests of the business community of B20 member countries,” she said.

The task force’s policy lead, Oki Muraza, presented several proposals for key performance indicators in the policy recommendations, which should serve as indicators while monitoring the progress of the policy recommendations, including the increase in the percentage of renewable energy in relation to total global energy supply and job creation. related to clean energy and low-emission technologies.

“We have compiled this KPI taking into account the policies that have been developed under Italy’s B20 presidency by adding several aspects that are in line with the policy recommendations of the B20 this year,” Muraza said.

In addition, policy recommendations made should be consistent with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as those related to clean and affordable energy (SDG #7 Clean and Affordable Energy) and climate action (SDG #13 climate action). .

On the same occasion, the Task Force Vice-Chair, Agung Wicaksono, informed that the Task Force still has a call to the Task Force in June 2022 to submit the final policy recommendations.

Wicaksono said he expects working group members to continue to provide input and insight into the preparation of policy recommendations that have impact and can be acted upon by G20 leaders.

In addition, he also listed several other important activities that will be organized by the working group after the last call of the working group, including the B20/G20 Ministerial Dialogue in July 2022; an investment forum entitled “2nd Partners in Energy Transition”, which will be organized in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the “SOE Trade & Investment Forum”, which will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Enterprises in September; and the B20 summit in November.
