Berry named one of America’s most responsible companies
Berry Global Group, Inc. (NYSE: BERY) Berry is honored to be named # 35 of 2,000 public companies on America’s Most Responsible Companies Featured by News week and global research firm Statista, Inc. Berry was ranked fourth on the list within their respective industry. The list includes the 500 Most Responsible Companies in the United States across fourteen industry subcategories. Companies were assessed on their publicly available performance data for the three ESG areas (environment, social and corporate governance).
Focused on ESG
Berry placed particular emphasis on its ESG efforts, leveraging its global capabilities to help clients achieve their sustainability goals. In addition, Berry has increased its transparency on relevant ESG topics. With an advanced safety record and a strong code of ethics, Berry is proud of its accomplishments to date in the areas of corporate stewardship.
As part of this focus on environmental sustainability leadership, Berry recently announced the following:
- Our goal of achieving 30% circular plastics use by 2030, exceeding our previous target of using 10% post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin by 2025
- Agreements to secure over 600 million pounds of recycled material, including advanced recycled materials from top suppliers (PureCycle, LyondellBasell, Borealis and Repsol)
- ISCC PLUS secure certification for 39 sites worldwide
- Led by participation in industry organizations such as the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, the Polypropylene Recycling Coalition and the Film & Flexibles Coalition of the Recycling Partnership

About the ranking
The Most Responsible US Companies List begins in a pool of the top 2,000 US-based public companies by revenue and recognizes the holistic view of ESG. For the environmental category, companies were assessed on key performance indicators (KPIs) in areas such as waste, emissions, energy consumption, water consumption, environmental commitment and performance at long term. For the social category, KPIs covered the dimensions of diversity in leadership, employees, philanthropy and engagement, and long-term performance. Finally, in the governance category, areas of assessment included disclosure and transparency, economic performance and long-term performance. In addition, they conducted a survey of 11,000 US citizens on their perceptions of companies with regard to corporate social responsibility. All items were weighted to produce a final score.
