CIBC recognized as one of Canada’s Top 50 Corporate Citizens by Corporate Knights

TORONTO, July 5, 2022 /CNW/ – CIBC has been named one of the from Canada The 50 Best Corporate Citizens for 2022 by Corporate Knights.

Selection by Corporate Knights of the 50 Best Corporate Citizens 2022 in Canada was based on several key performance indicators (KPIs) covering ESG-related compensation, labor practice indicators, board and management representation, as well as own revenues and own investments. CIBC’s ranking reflects in part its focus on creating access to opportunity for team members through benefits, culture and diversity as well as representation at the within the board of directors and senior management.

In 2021, CIBC announced its refocused ESG strategy which brings together well-established and new bank-wide ESG initiatives focused on building integrity and trust, creating access to opportunities and accelerating climate action.

Recent and notable ESG initiatives include:

  • CIBC’s Board of Directors has achieved gender-balanced leadership with 50% female representation.1

  • Co-founder of Carbonplace, a new technology platform for the voluntary carbon market, helping companies achieve their net zero ambitions.

  • $34.9 billion in sustainable finance mobilization in 2021 – and doubling our sustainable finance mobilization target to $300 billion by 2030.2

  • Commit $100 million in limited partnership (LP) investments dedicated to investing in key funds for climate technology and energy transition.

  • In 2022, CIBC enhanced health and wellness benefits for its employees, including increased income replacement benefits during parental leave, mental health services, gender affirmation care, fertility treatments and access to registered dietitians.

  • Over 212,000 clients attended financial education seminars and events between 2019 and 2021, exceeding our goal of 200,000. 1

  • $8.3 billion new loan approvals were granted to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reaching 92.4% to date of a four-year period $9 billion target. 1
