Crime in Scotland: Dundee tops list of areas with highest reported crime, with Glasgow first in sex crimes
Between 2020 and 2021, 688 crimes were reported per 10,000 in Dundee.
A third of them are crimes of dishonesty, which include fraud, embezzlement, theft and white-collar crime.
Dundee City also has the sixth highest level of reported sex crimes.
Glasgow ranks second in all crime reports, with 682, followed by West Dunbartonshire with 632.
Glasgow has reported the highest number of sex crimes of any other local authority area with 1,787 in total.

The fourth highest is North Lanarkshire with 530, Aberdeen City with 513 and then Inverclyde with 511.
Of the 32 local authority areas, Inverclyde ranks 22nd for sex crimes and in Aberdeen dishonesty crimes are the most common, with 4,635 reported.
Although having the second highest populationEdinburgh is seventh on the list, followed by North Ayrshire with 497 and Clackmannanshire with 484.
Edinburgh is the second highest in Scotland for sexual and violent crimes after Glasgow City.
Clackmannanshire has a particularly small population of 51,290, but still makes the top ten list.
Tenth, and last on the list included in the study which was conducted by A-Plan Insurance using data from Scot Gov, is Renfrewshire with 468.
Dishonesty crimes were reported in the highest numbers and this region has the lowest number of non-sexual violence crimes.
These statistics reflect reported crime in Scotland between 2020 and 2021.
