David Nanz appointed special agent in charge of FBI office in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (WMBD) – David G. Nanz has been appointed Special Agent in charge of the Springfield Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Illinois.
Chosen by Director Christopher Wray, Nanz recently served in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington.
When she joined the FBI in 2001, Nanz worked as a special agent in the Las Vegas field office, investigating cases of white collar crime. His work at Headquarters led to the promotion to the post of Special Supervisory Officer and transfer to the Economic Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division in 2008. He then became Head of Unit, handling several cases of the Criminal Investigation Department. 2008 financial crisis.
Nanz also served as the FBI liaison to the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Distressed Assets Relief Program and led efforts to have an FBI agent integrated into the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
Transferred to the Miami Field Office in 2010, he oversaw the Corporate and Securities Fraud Program and established the South Florida Insurance Fraud Task Force.
In 2016, he carried out missions to London and South Africa in support of the FBI’s international mission on corruption. Later that year, he was promoted to deputy special agent in charge of the Los Angeles field office, where he oversaw 11 teams of forensic and criminals.
In 2019, Nanz was promoted to inspector and returned to FBI headquarters.
