Develop key performance indicators for MMDCEs, regional ministers – Inusah Fuseini

Former Tamale Central MP Alhaji Inusah Fuseini advised President Akufo-Addo to look into developing key performance indicators (KPIs) for his chief executives of municipalities and metropolitan districts (DCEs) and regional ministers in order to be able to monitor illegal mining activities at regional and district levels.
The advice was issued after the president launched the National Small Scale Mining Consultative Forum on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The forum is a two-day roundtable program to discuss the challenges facing the small-scale mining sector.
Talk on Eyewitness NewsAlhaji Inusah Fuseini said he believes these leaders should be able to exercise jurisdiction over their domains and the KPI will help them defeat them.
âI have always said that if the president and this government are truly committed to tackling illegal mining, the first important steps the government needs to take is to fix its DCEs and regional ministers with a key performance indication. There is no land that does not belong to anyone, so the DCEs must exercise their jurisdiction over the areas over which they supervise. ”
âAnd no DCE, regional minister or MCE can tell me that they are not aware of Galamsey’s activities in their region. The fear is that DCEs and MCEs will know the people behind Galamsey’s business, but I am very optimistic and convinced that if the president is to correct these KPIs for his leaders, it will reduce the threat, âhe said. he adds.
