Herkimer College appoints campus peace officer
Herkimer County Community College has appointed Miranda A. Maldonado ’16, of Ilion, as the Campus Peace Officer.
Maldonado graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the College in 2016 and continued her education at Utica College, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in White Collar Crime.
During this time, Maldonado also completed an internship with the Ilion Police Department, accompanying officers on various calls.

She completed the Herkimer College Pre-Employment Police Academy in July 2020, completing Phase I of Basic Pre-Employment Police Training to become a Sworn Police Officer, and continued Phase II through the through the Little Falls Basic Course.
Maldonado worked as a part-time police officer for the Mohawk Police Department and the Dolgeville Police Department.
In his new role as Campus Peace Officer, Maldonado will perform a variety of security and law enforcement functions to assist the Campus Security Office in maintaining order for the safety of property. College and the safety of students, staff and visitors to Herkimer College.
