Kiverco supports Dulsco projects by creating a circular economy
Dungannon-based Kiverco, a leader in engineering and manufacturing, has been selected by UAE-based company Dulsco to design, manufacture, install and commission a complete turnkey solution to help divert waste from the landfill.
Now open, the MRF, located in Ras Al Khor, is an 80,000 tonne per year recycling processing plant and is a key part of the company’s comprehensive environmental solutions offering.
This project, showcasing Kiverco’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities to the world, has helped NI grow its overseas business by more than 600% in the past year alone.
During a recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, Gordon Lyons, Minister for the Economy of Northern Ireland, said: “I am delighted to be here in the United Arab Emirates and to have the opportunity to see firsthand Kiverco’s recycling solutions at work in the Dulsco plant. Kiverco was first introduced to Dulsco in 2018 by Invest NI and it’s great to see Invest NI’s support having such a positive impact on a company’s global growth. This project demonstrates Kiverco’s commitment to continued growth in this important region and highlights NI’s world-class expertise in the industry.
While incorporating partner component technologies, approximately 90% of Dulsco’s Dubai plant was manufactured at Kiverco’s headquarters and 36,000 square foot factory in County Tyrone. The facility, which allows Dulsco to reinvent, reinvent, reuse and reuse its customers’ waste, reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability and supports its drive to achieve a circular economy.
The waste sorting plant is capable of sorting 240 tonnes of multiple waste streams per day. The waste is sorted into different types of dry mixed recycling depending on the type of material before going through various processes, depending on the type of waste.
For example, oversize elements are separated from the rest of the raw material, with the rest being separated into different fractions and undersize materials. The product material then goes through another separation process to recover the metals. Then plastic and other materials are selected and sorted, with oversized items being removed during the final stage of the production cycle. The recovered and separated materials are then compressed into compact bales and sorted, ready for collection and recycling.
David Stockton, Managing Director of Dulsco, explained; “At Dulsco, we pride ourselves on working only with the best. As this was a vitally important project for us, the right contract partner was needed. Kiverco has an excellent reputation for designing and building these types of projects. This, coupled with their excellent support and customer service, made them the ideal choice to help us achieve operational excellence.
Dulsco’s environmental solutions span the field of waste management services, from community and industrial waste collection to recycling, medical and hazardous waste management. With sustainability at the heart of its operations, the company continues to invest in different waste management and treatment solutions. It also supports active sustainability awareness programs in schools, businesses and communities across the UAE. In addition to being the Official Waste Management Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, Dulsco helps clients such as Dubai Municipality, Emaar Hospitality Group and Majid Al Futtaim Group achieve their sustainability goals.
Gavin McQuillan, Commercial Director, Dulsco, added; “In designing and building this recycling solution, Kiverco has provided great support to Dulsco. The creation of this new factory fits perfectly with our mission to create more sustainable communities and underlines our ongoing commitment to creating a circular economy.
