Mishcon team of seven partners join Greenberg in London
Greenberg Traurig bolstered its London office with the hiring of a team of seven lawyers who left IPO-linked Mishcon de Reya earlier this month.
All seven were partners at Mishcon and will join Greenberg as “shareholders” – similar to the rank of partner but different due to the corporate structure of the company.
Kathryn Garbett and Claire Broadbelt will co-chair Greenberg’s civil fraud and commercial litigation practice in London, while Jo Rickards will chair its white collar advocacy and investigative practice in London.
Annabel Thomas, Martin Shobbrook, Hannah Blom-Cooper and Matt Hancock also join them.
An eighth Mishcon partner – private client lawyer Madalina Dumitrescu – will be leaving in the coming months, but it is not yet clear where she is headed.
Mishcon’s massive departure came after the company voted in favor of a London Stock Exchange listing in September.
Other departures from the firm since the ruling include litigation partner Karel Daele, who left the partnership to join Taylor Wessing, and real estate finance partner Omega Poole, who left to join mortgage lender LendInvest.
Mischon declined to comment.
Hires are a boost for Greenberg after the firm’s London office lost its global co-head of white-collar crime, Barry Vitou, and lawyer Anne-Marie Ottaway to HFW earlier in October.
This is the latest focus on the London operation after company executives recently completed a tour of Greenberg’s European offices in a motorhome.
