There is an episode in this timeless American sitcom Friends in which Rachel, the ambitious fashion director, decides to take up smoking. This capital (and ephemeral) life choice is dictated by the habits of his boss and a colleague. Each day, the two headed to the designated smoking area to hang around for a cigarette or two. Rachel, a committed non-smoker, finds herself excluded from this variant of the water fountain confab and decides to join the girlfriends in some way by lighting up. At least career-wise, it turns out to be an eye-opening decision after she finds out during one such session that her colleagues had planned a trip abroad without her.
